TRUST & ESTATE ADMINISTRATION
Estate administration includes advising personal representatives and beneficiaries on the court-supervised disposition of a decedent’s assets (probate). Our representation ranges from assistance with the filing of the required probate forms to a more active role in the collection and distribution of a decedent’s assets. This may involve the preparation of estate income tax returns and estate tax returns.
We advise trustees and beneficiaries regarding the unusual tax laws relating to trusts and the rules for the ongoing administration of a trust. This includes advising a trustee about detailed trust provisions to ensure that the trustee is meeting his or her fiduciary duties to the trust beneficiaries. Even after a person’s death, measures can be taken to minimize taxes and administrative burdens for the estate or trust and the beneficiaries.
